The Grand Experiment

To go forward, we sometimes need to look back to discover the secrets of the early New Testament Church. There we find a community of Christ followers who were intent on "having church" as they walked through life. For them, healings and miracles were not rare or occasional. They occurred on a daily basis (see Mark 16:14-18 and Acts 8:6-7). Long before the Roman state and other doubtful entities invaded the church, the early Christians just believed God in powerful simplicity, without all of the distractful trappings that are so prominent in modern churches. Also, the preachers of that day were just as likely to be blue-collar workers as professionals. Even the Apostle Paul was a tentmaker. Furthermore, when the early Church made important decisions, they did not count votes or consult opinion polls. Quite the contrary, they prayed and consulted the Holy Spirit (see Acts 15:28). Today, with our dependence on modern techniques, people have a hard time believing that the early church "turned the world upside down" (Acts 17:6) without a handy dandy red letter Bible, a large cathedral, the 700 Club, "Christian" comedians, the Christian Coalition, Zondervan Publishing, or "Christian" rock groups. Yet God moved powerfully in the midst of that humble, but prayerful, Early Church (before there were denominations). Again, I provoke you with the question, "What might happen with a group of people who ...."

Pastor Doyle and Nancy Passmore
Doyle and Nancy came to know Christ at a young age, and have served God in some way through their adult lives. Nancy plays guitar and sings on the worship team. Doyle is the founding pastor of Lakeshore House of Prayer, which was formed in May of 1999. Doyle has an outside source of income to support his family, and derives no income or benefits as pastor of Lakeshore House of Prayer. He has been active in the ministry as an evangelist, teacher, and pastor for more than 30 years.

Terry and Mary Jo Helgren
Terry and Mary Jo both came to the Lord in 1971. They have been married for more than 50 years, and have raised three daughters, and now have 7 grandchildren, and a great grand son. Terry attended Bible school affiliated with Christ for the Nations. In 2000, Terry and Mary Jo joined with the fellowship of Lakeshore House of Prayer. In 2006 Terry was set aside by Pastor Doyle Passmore as the Administrative Pastor for Lakeshore House of Prayer.

Ron Frego
Ron has been an elder at Lakeshore House of Prayer since its formation in 1999. He has served as worship leader and a singer on the worship team, and is now involved with the sound ministry at the church. Ron accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1984, and was baptized in 1996. Ron and Judy have been married for 40 years and have 5 children and 4 grandchildren.
